one year ago today I arrived in Rome. Reflecting on my time abroad, as well as my time since I’ve returned, I can definitively say that I’ve changed. I am no longer satisfied with Olive Garden. I appreciate my time with my family and friends more. I value other cultures within my own. I appreciate space on the bus. I could go on.
I miss Rome more and more every day, and sometimes the slightest smell or sound will take me right back to the streets of the Eternal City. I try to keep parts of Rome with me, by using recipes I learned while abroad and occasionally trying my Italian out on an unsuspecting candidate. I hope to return one day, but until then I will looks through my photos and keep in contact with those I love from my beautiful Roma.
I’ll end with a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson:
"Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not."
